Hyderabad, May 28 : The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) and Congress combine are all set to capture the Standing Committee of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation for the fourth consecutive term.
Although the MIM has severed its ties with the Congress party, both the parties are maintaining the power sharing agreement that they entered into in 2009. As the stage is all set for the scrutiny of nominations received for the elections of Standing Committee members, it could be predicted that the MIM-Congress combine would continue its domination for the fourth consecutive year. The polling for election of 15 members of Standing Committee is scheduled to be held on June 6.
The MIM has fielded seven candidates while 10 Congress corporators, including two dummies, have filed their nominations. One corporator each from TDP and BJP are also in the fray. However, by fielding just seven candidates, the MIM gave clear signal that it was leaving the remaining eights for the Congress party.
The corporators in the fray for the post of GHMC Standing Committee member are A Samad Ahmed Abbad, Syed Minhajuddin, Mohd Mukarram Ali, Meraj Mohammad, Habeeb Zain, Aruna, Mohsina Parveen, G Shankar Yadav, M Parameshwar Reddy, M Prabhakar Reddy, B Raju Yadav, B Pushpa, K Jagan, T Geetha Rani, B Bharathi Raj, MR Srinivas Rao, M Bhanu Prasad, K Sahadev and J Devanand.
