Hyderabad, May 25 : CPI floor leader Gandra Mallesh on Saturday demanded that the State Government pay an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the people who died due to severe heat wave conditions in the State.
Speaking to media persons in the Assembly premises here, Mallesh said that the State Government completely failed to sense the severity of situation and possible impact of severe heat wave conditions. He said that no precautions were taken to prevent deaths due to sun-stroke. Therefore, he said that besides taking precautions, the government should also pay Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia to the families of the victims by setting up a special fund.
Mallesh said that the government should be more cautious on the changing weather conditions and there should be some forward planning to deal with severity during summer, monsoon and other weather related issues. INN
