Hyderabad, May 25 : GHMC’s Gowlipura Corporator Ale Jitendera will quit the Congress party to join the Bharatiya Janata Party on June 3.
Confirming the development, Jitendra told INN on Saturday that he has decided to quit the Congress party due to its anti-people policies. He will formally join the BJP in the presence of party’s national president Rajnath Singh and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi who will be in Hyderabad to formalise the entry of Nagarkurnool MLA and Telangana Nagara Samithi chairman Dr Nagam Janardhan Reddy into the party.
Several Congress leaders in the GHMC area will also join the BJP along with Jitendra.
It may be mentioned that Dhoolpet corporator Raja Singh had recently joined the BJP by resigning from the Telugu Desam Party. Jitendra’s entry into the BJP would increase the party’s strength in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to eight.
Jitendra, presently a member of GHMC Standing Committee, is the son of former union minister Ale Narendera. Although Narendra had quit the BJP to join the TRS in the past, he had returned to the parent party later. Jitendra was elected from Gowlipura Division as a Corporator in 2009 GHMC elections on a Congress ticket.
He was closely associated with party activities and was considered as a close confidant of Labour Minister Danam Nagender. However, after Raja Singh’s entry into the BJP, Jitendra too was convinced to join the party. INN
