Hyderabad, May 23 : Nagarkurnool MLA and Telangana Nagara Samithi president Nagam Janardhan Reddy has finally decided to join the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Making the announcement here on Thursday, Nagam said that he would join the BJP on June 3 by merging Telangana Nagara Samithi.
Nagam also announced he would contest from Mahabubnagar constituency in the next elections and would take on TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, who presently represents the constituency. Dwarfing the status of TRS, he said that only a national party like BJP could create Telangana.
It may be mentioned that Nagam had quit the TDP and also resigned as the Nagarkurnool MLA following his differences with TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu on the Telangana issue. Following support from all pro-Telangana parties including TRS, he got re-elected as MLA, but as an independent.
Nagam declined several invitations from the TRS to join the party and was in constant touch with the BJP leadership. Finally, he decided to sail with the safron party. Recently he also went to Delhi and met BJP National President Rajnath Singh. INN
