Police to remain vigilant in the Old City

Hyderabad, Dec 7 : City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma on Friday said that the security arrangements in the Old City would continue for a few more days till the situation turns completely normal.

Talking to reporters at Charminar Police Station here, the Commissioner informed that nearly 5,000 devotees have offered Friday prayers at Mecca Masjid amid tight security. He said that some youth resorted to slogan shouting and a few of them also hurled stones which damaged a car. However, he said that the devotees disbursed peacefully and situation returned to normal within a few minutes after the prayers.

Anurag Sharma said that the patrolling would continue as usual and pickets would continue to be deployed at sensitive and strategic locations. Thanking people for their cooperation in maintaining peace, he hoped that complete normalcy would return soon. He said that the Old City should return to its old days when shops could be permitted to remain open till late night.
