AP Govt assures 24×7 power supply to Industries

Hyderabad, April 19 (INN): Several national & international firms in particular from China, are keen to invest in Andhra Pradesh due to many factors like abundant natural & mineral resources, long coastal line, single-window clearance mechanism within 21days, incentives / subsidies in certain sectors and preferably the success scheme of 24×7 power supply for industrial sector in AP.

That is why Chief Minister N Chandra Babu Naidu, during the China visit itself has directed for embarking foolproof mechanism for providing reliable, uninterrupted, 24×7 quality power to the industries without scope of power failure for even 24seconds, with ultimate global standards. The Chief Minister Prefers that Shanghai model of power development at global standards has to be replicated in the new Capital city of Andhra Pradesh – Amaravathi.

Disclosing these details, Energy Secretary Ajay Jain, who returned from China after a six-day long CM’s Tour, during a telephonic interaction with the top officials of power sector including K Vijayanand CMD/APTRANSCO & MD /APGENCO, K. Ranganatham Advisor, Energy Dept. and CMDs of DISCOMs H.Y.Dora and R. Mutyala Raju, said that several international companies like Xiaomi, Foxconn, Guizhou, Brandix etc., are very much interested to set up their plants in A.P. and accordingly the GoAP has signed several MoUs with Govt of China & leading manufacturers. In this regard, the Govt. is very keen to ensure 24 X 7 quality power supply to all industrial, residential, & commercial consumers, which will enhance the economical growth of the State.

The power utilities have to take all possible measures to enhance the Power generation from conventional & non-conventional sources (renewable energy), reduction of AT&C losses, segregation of feeders etc., with a special focus on Energy Efficiency & Conservation, he directed. Further Sri. Ajay Jain suggested the CMDs of DISCOMs to scrupulously comply to the directions of the Govt. to issue feasibility certificates to the new and prospective industries within 21 Days, by adopting Single desk mechanism.

Meanwhile, as per the directions of the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary Dr. I.Y.R. Krishna Rao has decided to hold a high level review meeting with the departments of Finance, Planning & Energy etc., for adopting strategies for achieving double digit growth for FY 2015-16 on 20th April 2015,at 3:30 P:M at AP Secretariat. The Secretary, Energy I&I is likely to make a special presentation on the following issues which are key factors for achieving double digit growth: Enhancing of per capita consumption & Promotion of Energy Efficiency; Energy consumption- agriculture, industrial and domestic/ commercial; Number of agriculture pumpsets energised; Number of households energised; Number of new industrial connections given along with contracted capacities; Number of solar pump sets installed; Generation capacity added; Renewable capacity added and Transmission and distribution capacity added.
