Over 90 per cent qualify in PGECET – 2014

Hyderabad, June 16 : More than 90 per cent of the candidates have qualified for the PGECET-2014 whose results were announced here on Monday.

Announcing the results in the presence of Education Ministers Jagadeshwara Rao (Telangana) and Ganta Srinivasa Rao (Andhra Pradesh) in the premises of Osmania University here, PGECET Convener Prof A Venugopal Reddy informed that of 118,259 registered candidates, a total of 108,112 candidates including 39,367 girls appeared for the test. While 89.19% boys qualified for the Post Graduate Engineering courses, the girl’s percentage was 92.27%. In Osmania University region 56,645 candidates appeared for the test and 50,826 candidates qualified. Similarly, in AU and SVU region, put together 48,463 candidates appeared for the test and 44,132 candidates qualified and 3004 non-local candidates appeared for the test.

Prof Venugopal Reddy said that the Osmania University had conducted the test from May 26 to 31st on behalf of Andhra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education. OU has been conducting the PGECT for the last eight years. The test was conducted in 17 subjects including a new subject, Food Technology. The test was held at 72 centres spread in six regions – Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, Warangal, Guntur and Anantapur.

The results are available on the websites – www.appgecet.org and www.osmania.ac.in. Candidates can download their rank cards from the above websites.
