Hyderabad, June 10 : Sirikonda Madhusudana Chary, TRS MLA from Bhupalapally, was unanimously elected as the first Speaker of the Telangana State Legislative Assembly.

As soon as the House met on Tuesday at 11 AM, Pro-Term Speaker K Jana Reddy announced Madhusudana Chary’s unanimous election for the Speaker’s post. He informed that one set of nomination on behalf of Madhusudana Chary was submitted by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao while another set was submitted by the opposition parties. Since Chary was the lone contestant, he has been elected unopposed.

The new Speaker was then escorted to the Chair by KCR and floor leaders of all political parties in the House. Jana Reddy relinquished the chair after Madhusudana Chary reached the podium. He greeted all the members with folded hands and assumed the new responsibility.  INN
