Centre should treat Telangana and AP equally: KCR

New Delhi, June 8 : Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday demanded that the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre treat the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States equally.

Briefing media persons on his two-day visit to the national capital, KCR said that he has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give Special Status to Telangana on par with Andhra Pradesh. He also demanded that Telangana should not be discriminated and all the assurances given in the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Bill should be implemented. He claimed that the Prime Minister has assured to look into the demands.

KCR said that he has apprised the Prime Minister about Telangana’s opposition to the ordinance on Polavaram Dam and demanded that seven mandals of Khammam district should remain with Telangana State. He said the TRS MPs would lodge their protest in the Parliament on the issue. He also demanded change in the design of Polavaram Project. He said that the issue should be sorted out by convening a meeting of four States – Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Odisha.

Speaking about the farm loan waiver issue, the Chief Minister appealed to the farmers to restrain from taking extreme steps. He said that the TRS Government would implement all the promises that it made with the people. Therefore, the farmers should not get carried away by false propaganda.
