IIP invites applications for 2-Yr PG Diploma in Packaging

Hyderabad, May 29 : The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) set up in May 1966 by the Indian Packaging and allied industry and the Government of India, Ministry of Commerce has announced entrance exam for its prestigious two year full time Post Graduate Diploma in Packaging (2014-2016).

The entrance exam will be held on June 19 at Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Delhi. The last date to apply is June 12. Applications forms are available at all the centers of IIP.

To be eligible for the entrance exam, one has to be a Graduate in Science (12+3 years degree – entire 5 years in science only), with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology (any one as main subject) or Agriculture / Food Science or Engineering or Technology with minimum second class. Students awaiting results may also apply.

Application form and Prospectus can be had from IIP-Hyderabad, Lux-3, Industrial Centre, Sanathnagar, Hyderabad or from Mumbai or any other Regional Centers by paying Rs. 500/- in cash or by Demand Draft in favour of “Indian Institute of Packaging”, payable at respective centers of IIP.

IIP alumni enjoy premium employment opportunities in all industries such as shipping & logistics, MNCs, pharmaceutical companies, FMCG, retail etc. Over 2500 students have graduated under this program till date with 100% campus placements. 100 per cent placement is assured with pay packet in the range of Rs.20,000/- and can go up to Rs.70,000/- and upwards.

In recent times, with the globalization of markets and trade, the role of packaging has assumed greater importance in marketing and distribution of agricultural produce, value added products, industrial products and mass produced consumer goods. As a result, there is now a demand for technically qualified cadre of people who can undertake design, development, production, quality control as well as make effective use of modern packaging technology.

There are over 7,000 organized industrial units and nearly 4,50,000 small industries in India who use or produce packaging materials and require qualified technical personnel. The Indian Institute of Packaging has, therefore, to bridge the gap, developed a full time Post Graduate Programme of two year duration, which has become popular in industries since 1987.

Packaging industry in India is one of the fast growing industries and has its influence on all industries directly or indirectly. It is growing at 15 percent per annum in India as against the global growth rate of 5 percent. The total turnover of the packaging industry in India at present is USD 24.6 billion and expected to grow to around USD 43.7 billion by 2016. The packaging industry offers ample job opportunities and a promising career.
