Erasu wants 45-day Assembly session for T-Bill

Hyderabad, Nov 21 : Law Minister Erasu Pratap Reddy demanded that a 45-day session of Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly should be convened to debate the Telangana Bill.

Talking to reporters in the Assembly premises here on Thursday, Erasu said that all members of the Assembly should get an opportunity to speak on the Telangana Bill. He said the session should be convened as it was done for the formation of other States. However, Erasu made it clear that he was in favour of united Andhra Pradesh and would strongly oppose the Telangana Bill.

Stating that the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh was not an easy task, Erasu said that several legal complications would crop up during or after the bifurcation. Citing an instance, he said that while Srisailam Left Canal is part of Telangana as per the Revenue records, Forest records show it as part of Seemandhra. Similarly, Bhadrachalam is part of Seemandhra in Revenue records while Forest records show it in Telangana region. He said there were several other instances which would create lot of legal complications.

Requesting the Centre to stop the process of Telangana formation, Erasu said that Centre should first clear the apprehension, fears and misunderstanding from the people of both Telangana and Seemandhra regions. INN
