Hyderabad, July 26 : Former Minister Konda Surekha is most likely to quit the YSR Congress party following resignation of party’s 16 MLAs over Telangana issue.

Earlier on Friday, Surekha had given an ultimatum to party’s Honorary President YS Vijayamma asking her to clarify on the mass resignation of party MLAs demanding the Centre to keep Andhra Pradesh united. She said Vijayamma has to clarify whether the decision to resign from the post was taken on an individual basis by the MLAs or was it party’s decision to take an anti-Telangana stand.

Surekha feels that the MLAs’ resignations have branded the YSRCP as Seemandhra party.

According to sources, senior leaders have intensified efforts to pacify Surekha, the MLAs are firm on their resignation. They would be meeting Vijayamma in the evening to explain their version. In the prevailing circumstances, sources say that Surekha might quit the YSRCP in the next few days.INN

Hyderabad, June 10 : YSR Congress Party honorary president Y. S. Vijayamma on Monday strongly objected to the method employed in the disqualification of 15 MLAs-9 of Congress and 6 of TDP-for violating the whip of their respective parties during the no-trust motion.

Speaking to reporters before leading a rally of party MLAs from Ambedkar statue on Tank Bund to the assembly for attending the first day of its renewed budget session, she faulted the way the MLAs were disqualified.

“The whole scheme of disqualification seems to be aimed at avoiding by-elections and saving the Government from further embarrassing situations,” she remarked, adding that the Congress is worried of losing the by- polls if held.

When asked on the MLAs carrying the India Today copies that showed images of Chandrababu Naidu and Kiran Kumar for its cover page story Secret Friends, Vijayamma said their friendship is well known to people.

“Both Chandrababu and Kiran Kumar have been together from Kadapa by-polls to MLCs polls to the appointment of information commissioners and to the support TDP has extended to the UPA on the FDA bill,” she said, adding people are in the know of all these things.

Vijayamma reiterated her charge that the Government has been imposing additional financial burden on the people with new taxes and hiking the power and other charges only with the support of Chandrababu Naidu.

“People are in the know of things that Chandrababu and CM Kiran Kumar have had a political fixing. Chandrababu had once introduced no-trust motion in the assembly after the PRP had merged with the Congress and now, he is thinking of introducing no-confidence motion following the disqualification of 15 MLAs,” she said, adding Naidu has been doing it all to save the Government as part of the conspiracy against YSRCP Chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

What more proof do you need to say they have entered into a political fixing, she asked. Vijayamma indicated that the YSRCP MLAs would question the Government in the assembly for abdicating people’s welfare and its lackadaisical approach towards people’s problems. INN

Hyderabad, May 18 : Reiterating that the main opposition TDP has been working in tandem with ruling Congress in many ways, YSR Congress has said that Chandrababu Naidu has been singing to the tune of Delhi high command, more so after his recent visit to the national capital.

It is very obvious, that Naidu who never talked about the tainted ministers has suddenly making noise, meeting the Governor and planning to meet the President on the issue, though he never raised it while the Assembly was in session. This is a clear indication that TDP is acting as per the instructions of Delhi high command and for mutual benefit,” party MLA Sreekanth told reporters here on Saturday.

Naidu raising the tainted ministers’ issue after his Delhi tour establishes the fact that the two parties have come to an understanding for the 2014 elections and will work out the Tamil Nadu model where the TDP votes will be transferred to Congress for Lok Sabha and the latter will help the former in the Assembly constituencies, he said.

The sequence of events stands a proof to the tacit understanding and the voting pattern in the recent by-polls and MLC elections shows that they have joined hands to face the common adversary YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Despite such degeneration in political values by the ruling and main opposition parties, people are with YSRCP and it has been proved beyond doubt on many occasions and the trend will continue, he said.

Though Chandrababu Naidu had many occasions to rake up the tainted ministers’ issue, he started the demand only after his return from Delhi recently while the state leaders are shuttling between the city and Delhi and a conspiracy has been in full play, he said.

When the no confidence motion was moved, TDP did not raise the issue nor did it support the trust vote, at the Centre it allowed its MPs to abstain from Rajya Sabha during the crucial voting on FDI and the tie-up has been visible in the by-elections and even other aspects of governance.

“The motive is that Naidu should be untouched by the investigation agencies on the allegations he is facing and he will help Congress in any which way that would benefit it. The common aim is to keep YS Jagan away from people,” he said.

Naidu has no morals as he usurped the party, chief minister post and the Gandipet party office with his manipulative skills. Instead of highlighting the failure of Kiran Kumar Reddy government that has been pursuing anti-people policies, the TDP president has been acting as per the directions from Delhi Congress high command. In return, we believe, that he will be free from all the allegations and numerous cases of corruption pending against him, he said.

“With such questionable credentials, Naidu has no right to criticize YSR family. While it is clear that he is game with Congress, TDP leader has been trying to project that we have an understanding with Congress. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is known to fight the Congress and not to compromise like Naidu,” he said. INN

Hyderabad, March 16 : Describing the defeat of no trust motion as a moral victory, YSR Congress has said the government has lost the right to continue in office as it has drifted into a minority going by the additional members who have defied the party line.

“Two things have become very clear in the no confidence motion. The Government is in a minority and the main opposition TDP’s understanding with ruling Congress was proved on the floor of the House,” party senior leader, Dr MV Mysoora told reporters here on Saturday.

It is for the Governor and the Congress party to decide whether or not the government should continue and we could prove the point that the Congress is in a minority and dissent was expressed from 19 members of both Congress and TDP.

Chandrababu Naidu has created a history by staying away from the voting which amounts to supporting Congress indirectly. We have been telling this since long and now it has come in full view of public glare, he said.

While Chandrababu Naidu has been speaking in high decibels in his ongoing padayatra that the Kiran Kumar Reddy government should not continue for a single day, TDP leaders have devoted more time to target YSRCP than criticising ruling Congress party during the discussion on no-confidence motion.

While moving the no trust motion is the privilege of the TDP, it failed to live up to the standards of an opposition party as it hardly spoke against the Congress party.

Even while TDP members were reading out points from the CBI charge-sheet, which is sub-judice, the chair allowed the persons to continue despite YSRCP members raising point of order.

The conduct of the chair apart, Parliamentary conviction is that the chair should not permit any criticism against a person who is not in the House or a person who cannot defend himself. This was also allowed. There seems to be perfect floor coordination between the ruling Congress and main opposition TDP in attacking those parties that have moved the no trust motion.

“We know that we did not have the numbers and the no trust vote will be defeated but we have shown that the government has no numbers to continue in office, treasury and main opposition parties are working in tandem.

A new element that came to the fore is that 19 members from both sides are not happy with functioning of their respective parties and have voted with us,” he said.

TDP leaders who were alleging that the no confidence motion was moved for a trade off should now explain as to what was the trade-off between Congress and TDP.

We challenge the Congress to hold MPTC and ZPTC elections before the panchayat elections and the real strength will be proved there, he said. On MIM not supporting the motion, he said, TDP is a responsible Opposition party and its stand cannot be ignored. There cannot be any comparison between the two parties, he said. INN

Hyderabad, March 14 : YSR Congress has asked the TDP to maintain its decorum as the main opposition party by supporting the no confidence motion and not to shirk responsibility.

“It is time for TDP to support the no confidence motion moved in the house as the Government has failed on all fronts and there is resentment in all sections of people,” the Party Deputy floor leader Dharmana Krishna Das told reporters here on Thursday.

TDP issuing a whip to its members to abstain from voting is undemocratic and is against the principles of parliamentary democracy. It is not late for the leader of Opposition to extend support to the no trust motion when it comes for voting in the House, he said.

“We hope wisdom will prevail on Chandrababu Naidu and he will change his stand when the issue comes up for voting. TDP members should come forward and should act in a responsible manner,” he said.

We have told that we will support TDP if it moves a no confidence motion and as it failed to live up to expectations, we had to table the motion. The state government is a total failure. Power charges have been steeply increased and there is unprecedented power cuts affecting the agriculture, industrial and domestic sectors.

Farmers, weavers, students, small and medium industries, students, women and all sections are affected with the increase in power charges, bus fares, agriculture inputs and heavy taxes.

“It is our responsibility to vent the ire of the people in the House and no confidence motion is one such tool. TDP should also join the voice of public resentment in the form of no confidence motion failing which it loses the sanctity of being the main opposition,” he said.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has reversed all the welfare schemes introduced by YSR and his faulty decisions resulted in many hardships to the common man. The state is groping in darkness and is reminding of the nine year rule of N Chandrababu Naidu, who has increased power charges eight times in his nine year term.

No confidence is one chance to highlight the failures of the State Government and if someone does not want to be part of the proceedings, it will be clear to the people that they have a different agenda, he said. INN
