Three of a family run-over by train in Vizianagaram

Vizianagaram, Nov 17 : Three members of a family were killed after they were run over by a train while crossing the tracks here on Sunday.

The deceased, identified as Balaji Singh (40) and his two sons Purshottam (8) and Anik (4), were run over by a passenger train when they parked their two-wheeler and went to answer nature’s call near the railway tracks. While returning, they were trapped in the double tracks. While Vizianagar-Palasa Passenger train hit them, another goods train was passing on the other track. They were returning to Vizianagaram after a sight-seeing excusion to Champavathi River in Nellimerla mandal.

The Railway authorities have ordered an enquiry into the incident. INN

Mandal Educational Officer from Vizianagaram district in ACB net

Vizianagaram, Sept 27 : Mandal Educational Officer T Salmon Raju, Bhogapuram, Vizianagaram district was caught red handed by the ACB officials on 26th Sept at 07:00 pm at the Evergreen Restaurant, Tagarapuvalasa, Visakhapatnam district, when he demanded and accepted the bribe amount of Rs 5,000 from the complainant M Tirupathi Rao, S G Teacher, MPT School, Tummapala, Anakapalli (M), Visakhapatnam district, for doing an official favour of issuing Increment Non-Drawal Certificate and making necessary entries in the Service Register of the complainant.

The both hand fingers of the accused officer yielded positive result in chemical test. The bribe amount of Rs 5,000 was recovered from the left side upper shirt pocket of the AO, which also yielded positive result in the chemical test. The relevant documents were seized.

The Accused Officer was arrested and being produced before the Hon’ble ACB Court, Visakhapatnam. And the case is under investigation. INN

Botsa claims victory in Panchayat polls

Vizianagaram, July 24 : Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana on Wednesday claimed that the Congress party has won over 2,700 seats in the first phase of Panchayat elections.

Talking to reporters here, Botsa thanked the people for voting in favour of the Congress party and attributed the victory to the successful implementation of welfare schemes by the State and Central Governments. Stating that the Congress party would return to power after next general elections in 2014, he said that the Panchayat polls have shattered the electoral dreams of both TDP and YSR Congress party.

Speaking about Telangana, Botsa said that the Telangana issue was not related to Panchayat elections and its solution was pending with the Centre and not with the State. Reiterating that he was in favour of united Andhra Pradesh, he said he would abide by the decision to be taken by the Congress High Command. INN

No hike in power charges: Botsa

Vizianagaram, January 27 : PCC Prsident Botsa Satyanarayana today said that there would be no hike in power charges.

Inaugurating the 60 MW power plant at Srirampuram at L Kota mandal near here, he said the Congress Government will not increase the power charges as long as it is in government.

Recently, there was uproar from opposition parties about the proposed hike in power tariff and the details being sent to the Regulatory Commission. INN
