Sharmila, accompanied by mother YS Vijayamma and Jagan’s wife Bharathi went straight to meet Jagan after landing at the Shamshabad airport on Monday morning. “Jagan Mohan Reddy is very happy with the way the Padayatra has gone. He appreciated us. And we thank god and all the people who have blessed, co-operated and extended their unfailing love,” she said after meeting Jagan.

It may be recalled that Sharmila undertook a 230-day long padayatra. Launched on October 18 at Idupulapaya, the Padayatra concluded at Ichapuram on Sunday. INN

Accompanied with her mother YS Vijayamma and other party leaders, Sharmila unveiled the statue of her father and late Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy to mark the occasion. It was at Ichapuram that YSR had concluded his Praja Prasthanam padayatra before 2004 elections.

Shramila started her padayatra at Idupulapaya in YSR district on October 18. She has walked for over 3,112 kms in 230 days spanning 116 constituencies. She toured as many as 14 districts including Kadapa, Anantapur, Kurnool, Mahbubnagar, Rangareddy, Nalgonda, Khammam, East Godavari, West Godavari and Vizianganaram.

Addressing the YSRCP’s extended meeting at Lotus Pond here, Vijayamma said Naidu must know that people are fed up with his continuous criticism of YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and YSR family members. Listing out the various decisions of the Congress government in the state that imposed unbearable financial burden on the people, she said Naidu, instead of teaching a lesson to the Kiran Kumar Reddy-led Congress Government by introducing no-confidence motion, has been protecting it with political intentions.

“Naidu has no other work except for criticizing the YSR family and Jagan Mohan Reddy. Even three years after the death of YSR, Naidu has not stopped criticizing him. He continued to criticize our party president also. Now, he has started criticizing Sharmila and her husband Brother Anil after she launched her Padayatra,” Vijayamma said.

She said Naidu seems to have not recognized the fact that people are fed up listening to his continuous criticism of YSR family. “Anyhow, we are exploring the possibility of filing defamation case against Naidu and his gang for making baseless allegations against Sharmila and her husband,” she disclosed.

There is no substance in the allegations leveled against Sharmila and Anil by Naidu, she said, rejecting the charges lock, stock and barrel. INN

“Without verifying facts TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu has been leveling baseless allegations against Brother Anil Kumar on a regular basis and he told us that he is contemplating to move court,” YSR Congress senior leaders DA Somayajulu and Janak Prasad told reporters here on Tuesday.

With Sharmila’s padayatra getting good response, Chandrababu Naidu has slipped into depression and has been speaking illogically and repeating the same allegations that YSR son-in-law is involved in Agasthya helicopter scam, lease of bayyaram lands and on the church lands.

“Neither Sharmila nor her husband is the trustee of the Church land in contention and they are not holding lease of Bayyaram mines nor do they have any links with the Agasthya chopper scam.

These are all verifiable facts and the documents can be obtained from Registrar of Companies (RoC). Instead, the TDP leader was playing to the gallery and hurling allegations on YSR family members, who told us that the legal option of filing a defamation suit is being actively considered, they said.

Chandrababu Naidu is in total frustration and is spreading falsehood and promising things that are not possible, loan waiver being one such cheating. Loan waiver was done only on thrice and on all the three occasions they were done by the Central government.

Once while Devi lal was Deputy Prime Minister and twice while Dr Manohan Singh was the Prime Minister. As banking is a Central subject, the State has no control over it and Chandrababu Naidu promising about waiver is an impossible task, they said.

As the MSP had increased by 25 per cent and fertilizer prices went by 250 per cent we met the Agriculture minister and also wrote to the Prime Minister on the loan or interest waiver, as it is a central subject. If Naidu goes to town saying that he waive loans, he could have done it during the last three years of his term which was ridden with drought and he was extending support from outside to NDA government.

“His intention is clear, he only wants to promise moon without going into the details,” they said.

The committee on political training classes, which includes senior leader Harirama Jogiah met and chalked out a programme and the details would be released on Wednesday by party honorary president YS Vijayamma after the extended executive meeting.

While Chandrababu Naidu was given permission to stay in Guntur during the MLC elections, Sharmila was asked to leave Nalgonda and we had to fight it out with Chief Electoral Officer, they said. INN

Sharmila who underwent knee surgery had been asked to rest and undergo physio therapy for six weeks but she recovered quicker than expected. She called off her Maro Praja Prasthanam padayatra from Ibrahimpatnam after she sprained her knee which turned out to be a muscle tear which needed surgery.

It remains to be seen if the doctors and party leaders and cadre will permit her to resume the padayatra or will ask her to extend the break. INN
