Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislature Party office here, Sailajanath said that Andhra Pradesh was the first State which was constituted on linguistic basis. When the Centre has decided to divide the Andhra Pradesh, it must also clarify whether it would abolish the law that led to its formation. He also said that the resolution by the concerned Legislative Assembly was important to bifurcate a State. However, he said that there was no progress on convening the session of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly to debate the bifurcation.

Sailajanath also dismissed the Rayala-Telangana proposal stating that the idea not new. He said that the formation of Rayala-Telangana was practically not possible. Admitting that Rayalaseema region was most backward, he said its development was possible only in united Andhra Pradesh.
