The political leaders belonging to New Democracy, TRS, BJP and TDP, who met here at the office of New Democracy, decided to protest against any move to make Bhadrachalam part of Seemandhra. They leaders said that Bhadrachalam should be part of Telangana State and any change in its status would be opposed. Therefore, they called for Khammam Bandh on November 19.

It may be mentioned that the Telangana JAC has already called for a 72-hour Bhadrachalam division bandh from November 15 in protest against the proposal. INN

According to the ACB Official, accused Officer Purnakanti Samuel (38) S/o Salman, was caught red handed by the ACB Officials at about 1:30 PM at his office, when he demanded and accepted an amount of Rs 8,000 as bribe from the complainant, for doing an official favour i.e. “to process the mutation file of H.No. 8-3-90, U.P.H.Colony, Khanapuram Haveli, Khammam, pertaining to complainant’s sister and to forward the same to the Municipal Commissioner of Khammam”.

Bribe amount of Rs 8,000 was recovered from him. He has been arrested and will be produced before the Honorable IInd Additional Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases, Hyderabad. INN

The two leaders were arrested yesterday near here while they were going to Hyderabad from Chhattisgarh for treatment.

They were produced before the court today.

The First Class Magistrate Court of Khammam issued these directions following a petition filed by an advocate, Gollapalli Rama Rao. The petitioner alleged that KCR has made statement saying that a “Chaprasi” (peon) in Parliament was more intelligent that the Prime Minister. BJP leaders on Monday picketed the Collector office and raised slogans against the government on the Bayyaraqm issue. After a scuffle, they were arrested by police.

BJP organized a rally demanding a steel plant and protesting against the transfer of any raw material from the region. Led by senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya, the BJP cadre held a dharna at the Collector Office.

Though there are some minor hassles in the Act all parties welcomed the legislation which intends to spend the funds earmarked to SCs and STS to them.

The Act does not permit any diversion of funds and makes it compulsory to spend the funds for the intended purpose.

Earlier government used to divert funds earmarked for SC and ST welfare but now there is a restriction with the Act coming into force. INN
