Speaking on the occasion, Dattatraya said that during the tenure of nine years of Congress rule in the state not a single SC, ST nor BC houseless poor person was allotted a house site patta of at least 60 yards. He also said that nearly five lakh people have applied for allotment of pattas under the Indiramma Housing scheme and the Rajiv Gruha Kalpa Housing scheme and even paid deposits for the same. But so far, they did not receive any allotments. All these poor people have paid the initial seed money for these allotments and money ranging from Rs 1000 to Rs 5000 had been deposited same by each of these individuals, neither have they been given their rightful allocation nor have they been returned back their hard earned money.

Dattatreyya said that there were a large number of slums in Hyderabad without even the basic infrastructure and the families living there suffering due to the inaction of the government in allocating the pattas as promised. Inspite of large number of government lands being available in areas like Banjara Hills and Nanakramguda, they are not being put to use for the welfare of the people.  Instead, they are being used to make crores of rupees by vested interests. Citing an example he mentioned that the Sheikpet MRO Chandrakala was very unfairly transferred when she denied to issue NOC to 5 Acres of Govt. Land and protected it. He said this reflects the working style of the Kiran Kumar Reddy Government which does not care for the welfare of the people, but only works for a few selected and elite people.

Dattatraya demanded that the Government scrap G.O.M.S. No. 493 which banned allotment of 50 yards of Patta Land to the homeless poor and to immediately allocate house site pattaas to all the eligible homeless poor and to allot independent house instead of apartments.  He also demanded the government to pay back the deposited amount along with interest.  He also demanded justice for the officials like MRO Chandrakala who was made a scapegoat.

Having failed to diffuse the tension even after arresting several leaders, resorting to lathicharge and firing tear gas shells in Osmania University campus since Sunday morning, the government finally bowed before the pro-Telangana groups and permitted them to hold Samara Deeksha. The decision to grant permission was taken by Home Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy after holding several rounds of discussions with Telangana protagonist and MLC Chukka Ramaiah and Gaddar. The permission has been granted till Monday 6 PM.

Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram, who along with his supporters staged sit-in protest at the JAC office, has expressed happiness over grant of permission. However, he said that the government should not have denied permission in the initial stages itself. He demanded that all the leaders and workers who were arrested while on their way to Indira Park on Sunday should be released immediately.

TRS floor leader Etela Rajender, who along with other TRS MLAs, staged dharna before Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Assembly premises, demanded that all the leaders arrested by the police be released immediately.

Swami Kamalanand was arrested by a team of Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Srisailam late on Sunday night and was brought to the city on Monday. He was produced before a magistrate at his residence in Judges’ Quarters at Secunderabad, who remanded him to 14-day judicial remand. Later, he was shifted to Cherlapally Central Prison.

Bharati, the president of Hindu Devalaya Parirakshana Samithi, has allegedly made certain offensive remarks against the Muslims during a rally held at Indira Park on January 8 to condemn the alleged hate speeches of MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi. Following complaints lodged by various Muslim organisations, cases were registered agaisnt him at Mir Chowk and Dabeerpura Police Stations.
