The GHMC Commissioner along with Syamala Rao, Managing Director, HMWS&SB, Mukesh Kumar Meena, Collector, Hyderabad and officials of HMDA has inspected the Musi River starting from Attapur to Musarambagh.

The Commissioner said that as per the directions of the Advocate General of Andhra Pradesh High Court, the Commissioner directed the Engineer-in-Chief to submit the details of the inspection and also action taken report by the HMDA, GHMC and HMWS&SB with the above said departments to the Advocate General of High Court by today evening itself. He further directed the Additional Commissioner (Urban Biodiversity) to clean the Musi bank on the either side of the High Court and to take up beautification of stretch all along the Musi River.

Somesh Kumar has informed that the Revenue Department has taken up the removal of encroachments to some extent all along the Musi river and directed the Collector, Hyderabad and the Additional Commissioner (Planning) to coordinate with each other while removing the remaining encroachments in a time manner as the Hon’ble High Court is insisting to speed up the process at the earliest.

The Commissioner said that the HMWS&SB has taken up 50 per cent of the interception treatment works on priority and the remaining works are to be taken up and funds are awaited from National River Conservation Board, Government of India after the approval of the funds total Musi river project will be completed in a phased manner. The Commissioner further directed the Irrigation and Engineering officials to speed up the works with regard to Musi River on priority.
