Hyderabad, Dec 23: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, along with his family members, began the five-day ‘Ayutha Maha Chandi Yagnam’ at his farm house in Yerravelli of Medak district on Wednesday.
KCR was accorded a traditional welcome at the ‘yagnashala’ soon after his arrival. Rao also undertook a circumambulation of the ‘yagnashala’ before performing ‘Garu Prarthana’ in front of the idol of ‘Chandi Mata’.
Governor ESL Narasimhan, Ministers T. Harish Rao, K. Tarakarama Rao, Jagadish Reddy, TRS legislators and MPs, Pandit Ravi Shankar of Art of Living, Eenadu Group chairman Ramoji Rao and other eminent personalities were present on the occasion and offered prayers to the idol of ‘Chandi Mata’.
About 2,000 priests from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and other parts of the country are taking part in the ‘Maha Yagna’ being performed for world peace and prosperity of Telangana State.
KCR’s wife Shobha and daughter K. Kavitha distributed sarees among the women on the occasion.
It may be mentioned that President of India Pranab Mukherjee, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrashekar Rao and other eminent personalities will attend the ceremony on the last day on December 27. (INN)
