Hyderabad, August 2: Union Minister for Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu paid a visit to the University of Hyderabad on Sunday to take stock of the construction of the building funded by the UGC under the scheme, “University with Potential for Excellence, Phase – II”.
The officials of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), who have been contracted the construction work, apprised the Minister of the current status in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. RP Sharma, Finance Officer, B. Pandu Reddy, Registrar, M. Sudhakar and the three Coordinators of the UPE – II. The Minister was also appraised the funding status and the constraints faced due to inadequate grant from the UGC by the university officials and was requested to intervene in the release of the remainder of the total grant sanctioned in order to expedite the pending works.
A separate proposal for building infrastructure for the new School of Economics, which was submitted two months ago by the University, will also be actively pursued by the Minister.
He also interacted with the students present.
