Hyderabad, Jan 26 (INN): Andhra Pradesh GENCO on Monday announced that it was contemplating to declare Commercial Operation Date (COD) of two units Krishnapatnam Thermal Power Station (KTPS – 2 X 800 MW) by the end of this financial year i.e. March 2015.
The announcement was made by APTRANSCO CMD and APGENO MD K Vijayanand after hoisting the national flag on the eve of 66th Republic day at Vidyut Soudha here on Monday. This announcement should cheer the Telangana Government as it would get 53.89 per cent in the power produced by the two units of KTPS as the State had invested Rs 1,050 crore in the project.
The Telangana Government had earlier alleged that the first unit of 800 MW in Krishnapatnam was synchronised in March 2014 and therefore, Telangana State should have got 53.89 per cent i.e., 431 MW. But, the power was not given to Telangana. The COD of both the units, might ensure 862 MW of power to Telangana from March onwards. This would provide needed relief to the Telangana Government which is facing severe power crisis.
