Two killed in road accidents
Hyderabad, Jan 24 (INN): A 21-year-old student died on the spot when the car he was driving was hit by an oil tanker in Vanasthalipuram police limits on Saturday morning.
According to police, the accident occurred near BN Reddy Nagar crossroads at about 5.30 AM on Saturday when a Swift car had a head-on collision with the oil tanker. The decease has been identified as T Sridhar Reddy, a resident of Nadergul in Saroornagar. A case has been registered against the tanker driver, according to Sub-Inspector V Saidulu.
In another case, 55-year-old Balaiah succumbed to the injuries which he suffered on January 22 when the bike he was riding skidded near his resident in Viqarabad of Ranga Reddy district. He was admitted to the Osmania General Hospital where he died on Friday night.
Financial problems drive five persons to suicide
In separate cases, five persons committed suicide allegedly due to financial problems in the limits of different police stations.
Four of them resorted to the extreme step by hanging to the ceiling at their residences on Friday night. They are S Madhusudan (48), a Civil Contractor of Aliabad; Dinesh Prasad (30), a GHMC Contract Worker of Jiaguda; Md Ismail (35), a carpenter of Kothapet and Ajay Janaki (60) of Qutubullapur. These suicides occurred in the limits of Shalibanda, Kulsumpura, Pahadishareef and Jeedimetla police station limits respectively.
In another case, 37-year-old M Kishta Reddy of Suraram Colony, who had consumed poison on January 22, died at the Gandhi Hospital on Saturday. He was an auto-driver, according to Dundigal police limits. (INN)
Dowry harassment drives woman to suicide
A 22-year-old housewife committed suicide allegedly due to harassment by her husband for more dowry.
According to Jeedimetla police, the deceased, A Padma, resorted to the extreme step by setting herself ablaze at her residence in Jagatgirigutta on Friday night. She died on the spot. She was allegedly being harassed by her husband Guruvaiah for past few months seeking additional dowry. On Friday night, Guruvaiah came to his house in inebriated condition and allegedly beat her asking her to get more dowry from her parents. Unable to bear the harassment, she committed suicide.
A case under Section 498 (A) and 306 has been registered against Guruvaiah, who has been arrested, police said.
Two persons commit suicide
A 31-year-old man committed suicide by consuming some unknown poison.
According to Dundigal police, Narsaiah consumed the poison at his residence in Suraram on January 22 and died at the Gandhi Hospital on Friday night. He was an employee of a private firm.
In a separate case, 40-year-old P Kumar, a tailor, died after consuming some unknown poison. According to Kushaiguda police, Kumar came to his house in Bandlaguda on Friday night in inebriated condition and consumed poison. He was immediately rushed to the Gandhi Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The reasons that led both Narsaiah and Kumar are yet to be ascertained. (INN)
