Hyderabad, Nov 17 (INN): Panchayat Raj Minister K Tarakarama Rao on Monday informed that the process of verification of sanction of pensions to the eligible persons is still in progress and will continue until the end of this month.
Replying to a question raised by MLA V Prashant Reddy and others during Question Hour in the Telangana Legislative Assembly, the minister said that the government had issued GO Ms No 17 dated 5-11-2014 enhancing the pension amount from Rs 200/- to Rs 1,000/- per month per pensioner to the Old Aged, Widows, Toddy Tappers, Weavers, Aids Patients and Rs 500/- to Rs 1,500/- per month per pensioner to disabled persons. Disclosing the details, he said that the government has received 44,87,699 applications for pensions. Of them, 40,49,672 have been verified. As per Collectors’ Report, there are 24,42,083 eligible pensioners and eligible pensioners’ applications as per data entry is 21,24,029. The minister said existing pensions in old scheme, excluding Abhayahastam, are 29,11,215 in all districts of Telangana State.
