IAF officer killed in road accident
Hyderabad, Nov 17 (INN): In a fatal mishap, a 42-year-old officer from the Indian Air Force (IAF) died on the spot when a truck knocked down his motorbike which he was riding near Tech Mahindra under Dundigal police station limits on Monday morning.
According to Dundigal police, K Srinivas Rao, an Air Force officer, was on his way to his office when this incident occurred around 9.30 am. He was a native of Visakhapatnam, inspector Bhavani said.
When he reached Tech Mahindra crossroads, the speeding truck (AP 29V 8979) knocked down his motorbike from behind. Due to the impact, he fell on the ground and sustained severe head injuries. Death was instant for Srinivas.
The autopsy was conducted at Gandhi Hospital and the body was handed over to his relatives. The driver of the truck is absconding, police said.
A case has been registered against the driver under Section 304 A (death caused due to negligence) of the IPC.
14-year-old boy dies of electrocution
A 14-year old boy died after getting electrocuted while playing in the balcony of his house, in Madhuban Colony at Rajendranagar under Mailardevpally police station limits on Sunday night.
According to police, the victim, V Jayanth, was playing in the balcony of his rented flat in the first floor of RSV Nilayam, which is incidentally close to the electricity cables. The parents were shocked to see him fall from the balcony. They immediately rushed him to Apollo DRDO hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead. After registering a case under section 174 of Cr PC, the police began investigation.
Two housewives commit suicide
In separate cases, two housewives committed suicide allegedly due to some depression.
In Bahadurpura police limits, 45-year-old M Padma took the extreme step by hanging to the ceiling at her residence in SP Nagar of Kishanbagh on Sunday night.
In another case, V Chittamma, 30, committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling at her residence in Maheshwaram on Sunday night, according to Maheshwaram police.
Crane cleaner killed in accident
A 20-year-old man died after falling down from the crane on which he used to work as a cleaner.
According to Pet Basheerabad police, the accident happened on Sunday when the deceased, P Guruveshwar, fell down after the crane hit a tree. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. He was a resident of Shapurnagar of Sanjay Gandhi Nagar.
Woman dies after consuming phenyl

According to police, the deceased, V Chitti, consumed phenyl by mistaking it to be toddy at her residence in Gopal Nagar on Sunday evening. She was admitted to the Gandhi Hospital where she died a few hours after admission.
Palmist dies after consuming toddy
A 35-year-old man was found dead near Hanuman Temple in Tukkaramgate police limits on Monday morning.
The deceased was later identified as B Venkataiah, a palmist and native of Guntur. Preliminary enquiries by the police revealed that he came to the city on Sunday and fell unconscious near the temple after consuming toddy. Further investigations are on.

A 30-year-old man committed suicide allegedly due to financial problems.
According to Lalaguda police, the deceased, M Ramesh, consumed some unknown poison at his residence in Lalaguda on Sunday evening. He was immediately rushed to Gandhi Hospital where doctors declared him dead on admission.
In another case, 35-year-old A Sunitha died of burn injuries which she suffered after setting herself ablaze on November 11 at her residence in Wampuguda. She was undergoing treatment at a private hospital where she died today. According to Jawaharnagar police, she resorted to the extreme step after having an argument with her husband Ailaiah over his habit of drinking liquor.
Driver killed in freak mishap
A 45-year-old man driver died on the spot after he was crushed by his own DCM van.
According to Gandhi Nagar police, the deceased, K Nitesh, parked his DCM Van at an isolated place to answer nature call on Sunday night. He apparently did not applied the hand brakes properly and while he was facing a wall, the DCM van crushed him from the back killing him on the spot. He was a resident of New Bhoiguda.
Man succumb to burn injuries
A 30-year-old man died of burn injuries which he accidentally suffered due to a bonfire.
According to Tirumulgherry police, the deceased, T Sunil, caught fire while trying to lit a bonfire near his house in Lal Bazar on November 15. He succumbed today at Gandhi Hospital where he was admitted for treatment.
Burglars damage ATM, in a bid to rob cash
Hyderabad, Nov 17 In a failed bid, the robbers attempted to break open an ATM Machine of Corporation Bank in SRT Colony of Yakutpura in the limits of Reinbazar police station.
According to police, the robbers made a failed bid to break open the ATM on Sundaynight. On Monday morning, when the employees came in to fill the cash, they were surprise to see the damaged ATM. They immediately informed the local police. “This ATM does not have a security guard. It appears, the burglars attempted to open the ATM box between 3 and 4 pm, when there is rarely anyone on road,” Inspector G Ramesh said.
Reinbazar police registered a case under section 380 of IPC and began investigation. (INN)
