Hyderabad, Feb 3 : GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has earnestly appealed to the union and the PH Workers to call-off their strike and resume the work in the interest of the citizens as the sanitation conditions in the city are deteriorating posing public health problems.
The sanitation workers of GHMC are agitating for enhancement of their wages since February 1st. “The Government is conscious of the gravity of the issue and already constituted a Committee of Senior Officers to examine the issue and come out with a solution,” he said. The Committee consisting of the Commissioner, GHMC, C&DMA and Addl Director (Labour) Department have held a series of meetings, interacted with the employee unions and submitted its report to the Government on December 27th last year. The Government has sought certain additional information / clarification and the same was submitted by the GHMC Commissioner on Monday.
The Government is actively considering the proposal to enhance the wages of sanitation workers suitably in all ULBs in AP, including the GHMC. The decision of the Govt. in this regard is expected shortly. In view of the above the union and the PH workers have been requested to call off their strike and get back to the work at the earliest.
