Hyderabad, Sept 3 : The Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has taken a serious note of the incident of acid attack on N Vani on the outskirts of Anantapur Town on 2nd September and had a high level review meeting on the issue with Chief Secretary Dr P K Mohanty, DGP V Dinesh Reddy and other senior officers in regard to measures that are to be taken to avoid recurrence of such incidents in the State.
Accordingly, Chief Secretary and DGP held detailed discussions with the concerned officials and issued the instructions for immediate compliance. The Collector & District Magistrate and the District Superintendent of Police of Anantapur district have been instructed to invoke the provisions of the newly introduced Sec.326A and Sec.354D of the IPC Act (Nirbhaya Act) and other related provisions. They have been instructed to take immediate measures to apprehend the culprits, complete the investigation expeditiously and put the case on fast track trial to ensure speedy punishments to the culprits.
The Principal Secretary to Govt., HM & FW Dept., has been requested to arrange for shifting of the victim immediately to NIMS, or any other specialised hospital of her choice, for better treatment at the expense of State Government.
Separate instructions are also being issued to all the District Collectors/ Superintendents of Police/Commissioners of Police to ensure that prompt action is taken on all the complaints at the initial stages of harassment itself by duly invoking various provisions of the newly introduced Act i.e. Nirbhaya Act so that such incidents of assault, acid attack, etc. do not occur and they are nipped in the bud.
The Law Department has also been requested to suggest further stringent measures like attachment and confiscation of properties of the culprits as a measure to prevent such heinous crimes. INN
