Hyderabad, Aug 2: Five MPs of Telugu Desam Party resigned from their posts accusing the Central Government of doing injustice to Andhra Pradesh through its decision of bifurcating the State.
Rajya Sabha MPs Y Satyanarayana Choudary and CM Ramesh and Lok Sabha MPs Nimmala Kistappa, Konakalla Narayana and Modugula Venugopal Reddy announced their decision during a press conference here on Friday. The MPs said that since their party has favoured formation of Telangana, they stand by it. Further, they said they were not against the Telangana Bill which is to be produced in the Parliament. However, they said that they want the Centre to protect the interest of new Andhra Pradesh that will come into being after bifurcation.
Describing the Centre’s decision as unilateral, the TDP MPs said that the modalities were not discussed with all concerned.
