OU Vice-Chancellor Prof S Satyanaryana will inaugurate the seminar on Thursday at 10 AM at OUCIP Conference Hall, Osmania University.  PGR Sindhia, former Home Minister, Govt of Karnataka will be the Guest and the Chief Guest will be Maulana Wahiduddin Khan. Lama Doboom Tulku, Founder Managing Trustee World Buddhist Culture Trust, Prof Sumita Roy and others will participate. Renowned scholars will present papers from the perspective of Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism respectively.

Yoga Master Fabio Andrico from Italy will introduce and demonstrate Yantra Yoga, a tradition which is believed to be as ancient as or even earlier than Patanjali Yoga.

OU reschedules BA, BSc exams to May 4 Thu, 02 May 2013 11:05:42 +0000 Hyderabad, May 2 : The Osmania University on Thursday informed that the B.A./B.Sc. examinations of Osmania University which were supposed to be held on 09-04-2013 and earlier postponed to 03-05-2013, have been postponed to May 4 (Saturday).

The exams have been postponed in view of Medak District bandh call. Accordingly, the B.A. III Year CCCCand B.Sc. III Year (Regular/Vocational) exams will be held on Saturday from 9 AM to 12 noon. Similarly, the B.A. I Year (Regular/Vocational/CDE/OUS) and B.Sc. I Year (Regular/Vocational) will be held on 2 to 5 PM. There is no change in time and Center of the examination, the Controller of Examination said in a press release. INN

OU VC lays foundation stone for Annex Block of University College of Science Mon, 25 Feb 2013 13:10:01 +0000 Hyderabad, February 25 : Osmania University Vice-Chancellor Prof S Satyanarayana on Monday laid the foundation stone for the Annexe Block of University College of Science as part of the infrastructure development under UPE Scheme. The proposed building is located behind the Department of Geology on the OU Campus.

The proposed building will have a built-up area of 41000 S.Ft. This G+1 structure will cost Rs 7.30 Crores. The Complex will have four Lecture Halls, eight Laboratories and twelve Class Rooms and will be user friendly for Physically Challenged Students.

The Vice-Chancellor also laid the Foundation Stone for the construction of extension Building and Compound wall of Department of Genetics, OU Campus. It will cater to the growing requirements of front line Science Department and costs Rs. 1.65 crores.

Speaking on the occasion the Vice-Chancellor said that infrastructure development was high on the agenda of the University. He mentioned that the University was keen on taking care of the space requirements and amenities of the Laboratories and Departments and urged the Building Division to complete the works soon.

PGCET-2013 from May 22 Wed, 20 Feb 2013 16:27:21 +0000 Hyderabad, February 20 : The Post Graduate Engineering Common Entrance Test (PGECET) will be held from May 22 to 25.

According to PGCET-2013 Convener Prof A Venugopal Reddy, the test would be conducted in 16 subjects as done last year. The test will of two hours duration consisting of 120 multiple choice questions and will be held with two sessions each day from 10:00AM to 12:00 Noon and 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

The PGCET is a state level common entrance test for admission into regular PG courses in Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Pharmacy in Andhra Pradesh. Osmania University has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the test by AP State Council for Higher Education for the academic year 2013-2014. The PGECET-2013 Committee met here on Wednesday to review the arrangements.

Prof Venuogopal Reddy said that the submission of application and payment of Registration Fee would be through online mode only. The payment can be made through AP online or through Debit / Credit card. The PGECET-2013 Notification will be issued on February 27 and the online application process will begin on March 4.

OU reschedules MBA (I-Semester) examinations Wed, 13 Feb 2013 14:55:56 +0000 Hyderabad, February 13 : The Osmania University has rescheduled MBA (I-Semester) Examinations to be held from February 14 onwards to February 21. The revised time-table has been displayed on university’s website

The university has advised candidates to take note of the change in the schedule.

The postponed MCA II year I-Semester examination (Operating Systems) of February 7 has been rescheduled to February 19. There is no change in the Examination Centres and timings. OU student murder case accused sent to judicial remand Sat, 02 Feb 2013 11:34:02 +0000 Hyderabad, February 2 : Shiva Kumar, the prime accused in the murder case of Osmania University student Aruna, was remanded to 14-day judicial remand after he was produced before a court by the City Police on Saturday.

Shiva Kumar, who attempted suicide near Pune by jumping from a running train while being brought back to Hyderabad by the police on January 4, was shifted to Hyderabad this morning by the Chatrinaka Police. The doctors had amputated his right hand and left leg as they were badly damaged after he jumped off the train.

Shiva Kumar allegedly strangled Aruna to death on December 31 when she visited his residence at Chatrinkaka. He, along with his brother and a friend, tried in vain to dispose off the body. Later, he went absconding and was traced in Mumbai by the police. However, he tried to commit suicide by jumping off a running train near Pune.

After producing Shiva before the court, the police shifted him to Chanchalguda Jail on court’s directions.
