While contractor R Anand has been blacklisted, seven others – Vemula Srinivasulu, Irfan Ahmed, Ms/ Sri Laxmi WLCCS, Vemula Raju, Ch Raju Reddy, Kommula Laxmaiah and K Murali Krishna have been debarred for two years. According to Deputy Commissioner M Venkateswarlu, the contractors, who have been awarded Engineering Works in Malkajgiri Circle after due tender process (e-procurement), have been debarred/Blacklisted, from participating any tender pertaining to the GHMC since they are defaulters and irresponsive to complete the works awarded to them.

TDP demands GHMC meet in December first week Mon, 18 Nov 2013 13:21:34 +0000 Hyderabad, Nov 18: TDP floor leader in GHMC Singireddy Srinivas Reddy on Monday asked Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain to convene the General Body meeting of Greater Hyderabad of Municipal Corporation in the first week of December.

In a representation made to the Mayor, Singireddy said that there were many problems in the GHMC including damaged roads, desiltation of nalas, maintenance of streetlights, stray dogs menace, sanitation, spreading of viral and contagious diseases, development of burial grounds, traffic problems, delay in executing corporators’ budget and issue of birth and death certificates through Citizens’ Service Centres. Further, many resolutions of the Standing Committee and the General Body of the GHMC are yet to be implemented, he said.

“As per the provisions of the amended Act, meetings of the General Body should be conducted at least once in three months. The last general body meeting was held on September 23. Therefore, another meeting should be conducted in December first week,” Singireddy demanded.

GHMC chief asks citizens to participate in Prajavani Mon, 18 Nov 2013 13:13:37 +0000 Hyderabad, Nov 18: GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has appealed all the citizens of the twin cities to participate in Prajavani Programme which is being held on every Monday from 10AM to 1PM in all Circles / Zonal / Head Office of GHMC to solve their grievances at the earliest.  “This is the right platform to the citizens and officials to sort out the issues pertaining to various types of grievances from the citizens of the twin cities, he opined,” he said.

He further said that the GHMC is fully dedicated and striving hard to solve the various civic related issues and requested the citizens to avail this opportunity and to be with the GHMC on every Monday 1st half, as all the officials of various departments will be available at one platform.

The Commissioner said that the GHMC is organizing a special training programme ever conducted in the history of the Corporation for the sanitation workers on 26th November at Shilpakala Vedika to create awareness among the sanitation workers about their rights and responsibilities while performing their duties while performing the duties especially with regard to lifting of garbage, waste materials from the City. The experts from the sanitation field will be imparting training to the sanitation workers to work more effectively.

Somesh Kumar said that after visiting the Zonal Offices and the Head Office, it has been observed that most of the employees are complaining that they are not being given the ESI, PF statements to know the present status of their accounts for which the Commissioner has directed the officials to issue the same and further informed that the employees have already been given the statements of ESI and PF in some Circle and Zonal Offices. The Commissioner said that all the sanitation outsourcing staff of the entire GHMC will be getting their ESI, PF on 26th November during the training programme at Shilpakala Vedika.

Keeping in view of the problems faced by the employees while visiting to the ESI hospitals for their medical treatment, the Commissioner said that the GHMC is coordinating with all the major ESI hospital authorities to arrange “May I help You” booth with an assistant from GHMC side to have a proper liaison to the employees while taking their treatment at the ESI hospital.

The Commissioner said that GHMC is planning to prepare a comprehensive action plan for development of the roads to maintain the roads in a perfect shape, footpaths, median divider, bus shelters, greenery etc., on either side of the roads for the convenience of the citizens and to have a beautiful look on the roads.  This plan will be ready in a week and specific sanctions will be given to take up the main and major roads where the roads are very badly damaged on priority.

Somesh Kumar said that  an action plan is also is being prepared for road cutting purpose and the GHMC is identifying some of the roads in coordination with HMWS&SB, APCPDCL, BSNL and other related departments who are looking after the cable work, an action plan for  200 kilometers stretch is being prepared to take up underground duct works for laying of cable and other underground repairing works and GHMC will be issuing notices to all the connected departments to take up the road repairing works in the stipulated time and there after the GHMC will not issue permissions for road cutting purposes for 2 years and odd as the cement concrete roads are being laid for better maintenance of the roads in future.

The Commissioner said that the GHMC has taken up of road works in 238 locations with a cost of Rs. 17 crores and almost all the works are in completing stage and further stated that 178 locations works are being taken up with a cost of Rs. 12.5 crores with CC roads.

Responding to the question raised by the reporters pertaining to non issue of occupancy certificates to the applicants, the Commissioner said that most of the owners of the buildings are submitting their application for occupancy certificate while their construction is under way. The Commissioner through media is appealed to the Citizens of GHMC to apply for occupancy certificate only after completing the building duly fulfilling the criteria as per the sanctioned plan.

The Commissioner further said that the burning of garbage is not only taking the toll on public health but also on the GHMC finance by destroying the a life of garbage bins and he further informed that the GHMC is dead- against that type of issues creating un healthy and unwarranted problems for the people to this effect he said that GHMC is strengthening the OSRT System to sort out this type of issues to curb such menace.

Six killed, many injured in building collapse Mon, 08 Jul 2013 05:35:50 +0000 Hyderabad, July 8: At least six people were killed and several others injured when a two-floor building on Rashtrapati Road in Secunderabad housing an Irani cafe collapsed in the early hours of Monday.

While 15 people have been rescued by the police and GHMC teams, nearly 20 people are feared trapped inside the debris. Several cranes, JCB machines and gas-cutters have been pressed into service to clear the debris to rescue those trapped inside the building.

The injured have been shifted to Gandhi Hospital for treatment and their condition is said be to stable.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy visited the spot and ordered an inquiryinto the incident.

City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma, GHMC Commissioner MT Krishna Babu and other senior officials supervised the rescued operations. Ministers – Danam Nagender and M Mukesh Goud too visited the spot.

City Light Hotel was among 57 old buildings in the area which were served demolition notice by the GHMC. However, the hotel owner reportedly stayed demolition by approaching a court.

]]> 0 GHMC pays ex-gratia to families of Dilsukhnagar blast victims Sat, 01 Jun 2013 13:02:45 +0000 Hyderabad, June 1 : As promised GHMC Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain has distributed cheques of ex-gratia of Rs 1,00,000 each to the families of victims of Dilsukhnagar bomb blast, who were residing outside Hyderabad.

The Mayor along with Deputy Mayor G Rajkumar and GHMC Commissioner MT Krishna Babu has distributed cheques in his chambers on Saturday. The family members of deceased persons late Sri Muthyala Rajashekar, Late Sri Odde Vijay Kumar, Late Sri Anand Kumar, Late Sri Karthik, Late Sri Giri have received cheques today on producing necessary identity proof. Five more deceased family members are yet to receive their cheques from GHMC.

Later, the Mayor handed over a cheque of Rs. 1,00,000 as ex-gratia to the family members of late baby Humera Begum, who lost her life in a sump due to the negligence of a contract employee S Balaiah on February 26, 2012. INN

GHMC cautions buyers against sale of Gokul Plots Mon, 27 May 2013 14:29:06 +0000 Hyderabad, May 27 : The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has cautioned the general public against buying the land in the Sy.No. 78 of Gokul Plots in Hafeezpet Village at Serilingampally Mandal.

In a public caution notice, the GHMC said that Gokul Plots in Hafeezpet village is Government Land as per the Revenue records and most of the occupiers were not having any title over the plots and constructed buildings un-authorisedly past years and presently proceedings with their constructions without obtaining any building permission from the GHMC and violating rules and regulations. Several un-authorised constructions are going on the above land. The GHMC has been regularly stopping / demolishing the illegal constructions by issuing required notices to them as per the GHMC Act. It already addressed letters to respective departments i.e., A.P.Transco & H.M.W.S. & S.B not to provide any service connection to the occupiers until occupancy certificate obtained by the owner from the GHMC.

Therefore, the general public has been cautioned that not to purchase any flat or occupy / land in this Sy.No. 78, Gokul Plots, Hafeezpet Village area and also not to develop the land without valid permission from the Competent Authority failing which necessary action will be taken as per due procedure, and further the GHMC is not responsible for future consequences if any on the said buildings. Project Nandanavanam inaugurated on International Biodiversity Day Wed, 22 May 2013 13:48:39 +0000 Hyderabad, May 22 : GHMC Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain has inaugurated “Nandanavanam” project on the occasion International Biodiversity Day today at Imlibun Park, which is aimed to create awareness among the children about biodiversity.

Mayor said that GHMC is very keen to develop Urban Biodiversity in the twin cities as per the decision taken at COP-11 conference held last year in the month of October 2012.

It is decided to give more importance to Biodiversity in GHMC limits for which GHMC has created a separate Biodiversity wing to bring the change among the citizens life style to be more healthy to lead the life in clean, green and healthier atmosphere.

While addressing the gathering, Majid Hussain said that GHMC is the only Corporation in the Country who has started this initiative of conserving life and species. GHMC is striving very hard to create awareness about biodiversity duly coordinating with the school managements for active participation of the students so that they can change their life style to be more healthier in pollution free environment and to protect the species and living organisms in the planet.

Earlier GHMC Mayor and Commissioner went round the students who were participating in the painting competition and interacted with the students about biodiversity and praised them for coming up with good initiatives. Mayor further said that school managements must create awareness about civic sense to the students so that they can also feel the responsibility and to join hands to make Hyderabad clean, green and pollution free city. Later on, Mayor has administered biodiversity pledge.

GHMC Commissioner M T Krishna Babu said that the GHMC is taking up initiatives for Urban Biodiversity Management resulting in converting in the human settlements as similar to the balance eco systems to host biodiversity and make the city safe and sustainable for living. The initiatives include tangible development activities and strategic steps to create a social change by way of providing biodiversity education, traditional knowledge conversation, building the capacity of staff. GHMC has enhanced the financial and human resource allocation to the sector, he added.

The Commissioner, GHMC said that Rs. 25 crores has been allotted for the biodiversity wing to take up lot of initiatives on Urban Biodiversity in the twin cities. Today GHMC is conducting International Biodiversity day. The GHMC has improved the score from 39 in the last October during COP-11 to almost to 59 points now which is very good improvement in the score. Hon’ble Chief Minister and Hon’ble Governor have put a target of reaching 65 points to the next COP-12 which is scheduled to be held in South Korea in 2014.

The GHMC is taking up development of 14 major parks for development of biodiversity where the native species and plants will be given lot of importance and lot of educational material especially depicting the use of plants etc., The Commissioner further stated that each plant literature will be made available to the student and the GHMC is giving free admissions to the students in the parks to enjoy the park and as well as see various varieties of plants and to understand the nature and also to encourage them to live with the environment and the nature. He also said that our main aim is to protect nature so naturally whatever right we have in this planet every living being is also having the same right whether it is a plant, aquatic life or animal we should respect this right and ensure that we don’t occupy their space and totally dry them out of place. So that our duty is to encourage all the living being and we are sure that all the citizens will come up and act to improve the biodiversity.

The Commissioner said that the GHMC is confident that the initiatives which are taken up now in the city and the score will definitely reach around 65 as part of improvement of biodiversity.

Mayor held review meet on functioning of GHMC call centre Wed, 22 May 2013 13:39:23 +0000 Hyderabad, May 22 : GHMC Mayor Mohammed Majid Hussain has directed GHMC Commissioner M T Krishna Babu to conduct weekly reviews on the functioning of GHMC 24/7 call centre (155304). Mayor held a review meeting with GHMC Commissioner, Additional Commissioner (Admn.) and Additional Commissioner (IT) about the call centre in his chambers today.

Mayor has appreciated the functioning of call centre and the escalation mechanism maintained there and he was very furious about the working style of ground level staff, who are not at all performing their duties and irresponsible while transacting the grievances stating that the complaint has been attended without even looking to it. He further informed that he was getting lot of complaints with regard to functioning of call centre for which he was forced to make a surprise visit to the call centre to know the facts.

Majid Hussain directed the Commissioner that stringent action has to be taken against the staff including the Deputy Commissioners for their negligent attitude in performing the duties with regard to call centre grievances. He further directed the Additional Commissioner (IT) to correct the information regarding transfers of the field level staff in the data base of call centre at regular intervals. INN
