TPCC condemns KTR’s outburst against media

Hyderabad, June 29: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Chief Spokesperson Dr. Dasoju Sravan has strongly condemned Municipal Administration Minister K. Tarakarama Rao for his outburst on a section of media for reporting the Miyapur land scam.

Accusing KTR of using highly offensive and derogatory language against senior journalists who reported the scam, Sravan, in an open letter to KTR, questioned his rationality in making such remarks. He said by called a news item about the land scam as ‘paid article’, KTR has directly attacked the journalist. “KTR did not realise that his own IAS officer (Jayesh Ranjan) in his rejoinder sent to the media has accepted all the facts mentioned in the media reports,” he said.

“KTR particularly made undue remarks against a senior journalist describing him as “sold” and that he wrote was a “paid article”. KTR’s attack though appeared to be on an individual and on an individual media house, but it is actually an attack on freedom of expression and scuttling the democratic principles. The TRS Government treated a few other media houses in the same manner in the past,” he said adding that KTR’s attitude is that all the media houses should either bow down or be bought to create camouflage news.

Sravan, in his open letter, raised 40 questions pertaining to the land scam and other irregularities in the State and asked KTR to reply to the same. He asked as to why TRS Government was afraid of ordering a CBI enquiry into the alleged scam. He also asked as to why the TRS Government has repealed the Land Grabbing Act and hesitant to take action against the “Mutations King” and other tainted officials. He challenged KTR for an open debate on the issue. (INN)
