Congress to go to court over land acquisitions

Hyderabad, July 14 (INN): Deputy CLP leader T. Jeevan Reddy said that the Congress party would approach the court if Telangana Government refuses to pay compensation to Mallana Sagar outsees as per Land Acquisition Act 2013.

Speaking to media persons in Assembly premises here on Thursday, Jeevan Reddy said that the government needs to pay 300% of market value to the people whose lands are being acquired for a project. However, he said that the State Government did injustice by fixing the compensation at Rs. 6 lakh per acre for the outsees of Mallana Sagar. He asked Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao to explain the basis of fixing the Rs. 6 lakh amount. Further, he said that the government should pay at least Rs. 10 lakh compensation to those who were losing houses and also need to rehabilitate those losing their livelihood.

Jeevan Reddy also accused the TRS Government of not upgrading the market value which was upgraded last time in 2013 during Congress Government. He said upgradation of market value would increase the compensation amount for the outsees. He said payment of compensation under GO MS No. 123 was not mandatory, but compulsory under Land Acquisition Act, 2013. (INN)
