Won’t part with land: Mallannasagar project oustees

Medak, July 13 (INN): Residents of Erravalli village in Kondapaka mandal in Medak have resolved not to part with their lands where Mallannasagar project is supposed to come up at.

A resolution passed by the Gram Panchayat says that the village elders, women and youngsters were against giving their lands to the proposed project and vowed to protect their lands. The Gram Panchayat forwarded a copy of the resolution to the District Collector stating the opinion of the residents of the village.

Meanwhile, Irrigation Minister Harish Rao said that the government was committed to go ahead with the Mallannasagar project and expressed confidence that the land would be acquired with the support of the residents of Eddigadda Kistapur. He said that the project would irrigate 10 lakh acres of land there by solving the irrigation issue of the district. He said that about 13 lakh saplings would be planted across the district as part of Harita Haram, the drive to improve green cover in the state. (INN)
