AP CS reviews irrigations projects of Prakasam, Nellore

Hyderabad, Feb 25 (INN): Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao held a meeting at the State Secretariat on Wednesday with the officials to review the irrigation projects in Prakasam and SPSR Nellore districts.

The Chief Secretary discussed the construction of pickup weir across Upputeru River in Kondapuram Mandal of SPSR Nellore Dist.

The officials explained that, GKN (Gottipati Kondapa Naidu) Canal is crossing Upputeru at 99 Km. Upputeru basin is sub-basin to Manneru Basin. Upputeru joins Manneru River on downstream side of Rallapadu reservoir. An aqueduct proposal was approved across Upputeru River. Land acquisition was already completed to construct pickup weir in place of aqueduct from GKN Canal Somasila Project to Rallapadu Reservoir to divert 1000 Cusec of flood water.

The Chief Secretary has issued instructions to the officials to come forward with the designs for approval and complete the entire project by July 2015.
