GHMC officials asked to work hard to make Hyderabad a Smart City

Hyderabad, Jan 22 (INN): In order to implement effective sanitation in the GHMC limits, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary MG Gopal has advised GHMC Special Officer Somesh Kumar to make Zonal Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and other senior officials as incharge to oversee the sanitation.

The Principal Secretary held a review meeting with the GHMC Special Officer, Special Commissioner Navin Mittal and senior officials of the GHMC on the ongoing developmental works and schemes. He asked the officials to work hard to make the Hyderabad the Smart City, as per the directions of the State Government. He said that he would get permissions from the government at the earliest on the proposals relating to the employees like health cards, filling up of vacancies and filling of disabled vacancies.

During the review meeting, the Special Officer appraised the Principal Secretary on the ongoing developmental works in GHMC limits. He said nearly 40,000 files were processed through the implementation of e-office initiate. Under the JNNURM Scheme, as many as 36,404 houses were built and of them, 17,000 houses were handed over to the house owners and the remaining 22,000 houses have to be allotted. A meeting in this regard as been conveyed with the Ranga Reddy District Collector to identify the eligible members for allotment.

The Special Officer said that white taping of roads in Hyderabad would be taken up using advanced and latest technology. He said the proposal worth Rs. 150 crores has been placed before the State Government for approval. He further informed that GHMC is taking up development of two lakes in each circle.

Additional Commissioners Gourav Uppal, S Hari Krishna, N Ravi Kiran, Shankaraiah, Venkat Rami Reddy, D Jaya Raj Kennedy and L Vandana Kumar, Engineer-in-Chief R Dhan Singh and Chief City Planner S Devender Reddy, have participated in the review meeting.
