CM reviews law and order situation in AP

Hyderabad, Jan 7 (INN): Director General of Police JV Ramudu gave a presentation on the status of Law & Order situation in Andhra Pradesh before Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during a review meeting held in Vijayawada on Wednesday.

The DGP told the Chief Minister that i-click and Raksha mobile application are due for launch. The police department also proposed revival of Mytri (Community policing) in the state and to replicate e-FIR model.

To ease traffic congestion due to frequent VIP visits, the Chief Minister told Additional DG (Intelligence) A.R. Anuradha to provide two deluxe buses for VIPs. “We can avoid 40-50 cars and permit them only to a certain distance. After that, we can have these buses ferrying VIPs or ministers,” the Chief Minister said.

Pointing out that road-cutting and barricading is being done unnecessarily in the state, the Chief Minister has asked the police personnel to assess it and carry it out at places where it is required.

The Chief Minister suggested the police department to use technology and set goals. This could be to work on a strategy “on controlling crime, creating awareness, fair policing and overall law and order control.” He added that the DGP could have a press conference every month by winning the confidence of people through community policing.

“Set initial targets and set up cameras at notorious places. This will help you detect crimes and control crime rate. Outsource all technology-related works,” he said.

On Cyber crimes, the Chief Minister asked the AP police to work with experts from the field. “You could also outsource work to agencies which specialize in this. This will help you focus on cyber crimes,” he added.

The Chief Minister also highlighted that the rate of economic crimes is higher than crude crimes. He has asked the police department, finance department and communications department to create awareness among people on economic crimes.
