IET India announces the winners of its 2014 Scholarship Award

Hyderabad, Aug 27 (INN): Manoj Sarda from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee and Hina Agrawal from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad have been awarded a prestigious scholarship from one of the world’s largest professional bodies for engineers, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in general and women category respectively.

The winners were honored in the Scholarship Award Nite presided over by T V Mohandas Pai, Chairman, Manipal Global Education and Sumit D Chowdhury, Vice President – Reliance Jio Infocom Ltd.

The second edition of the IET India Scholarship Award drew participation from close to 4,000 students across India. The competition was organized in four levels, from eligibility to theoretical and practical engineering case resolutions. The focus was to demonstrate economically, socially and technologically viable ideas to resolve challenges around our society. Ten national finalists, who were chosen for the last round, were tested for technical knowhow, problem solving capabilities, as well as leadership skills.

Speaking on the occasion, Shekhar Sanyal, Director and Country Head, IET India said, “We are in the second year of Scholarship Award and are very excited to see the continued excellence from the engineering community. India, with its abundant quality engineering talent, has become a hub of innovation over the last few years. Engineers play a critical part in our lives and we from the IET are committed towards creating platforms to encourage them to showcase their innovative ideas and solutions. Scholarship Award is one such initiative that provides recognition and motivation to aspiring engineers to bring out the best and benefit the society. I congratulate the winners for this achievement and wish them an ambitious career ahead contributing to the growth of our country.”

Manu Kothari from PES University, Bangalore and Mansha Imtiyaz from Amity University, Noida were declared runners up in the respective categories.
