YSRCP stalls AP Assembly over ‘political murders’

Hyderabad, Aug 18 (INN): The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly session began on a stormy note on Monday with the YSR Congress Party legislators stalling the proceedings demanding debate on law and order situation in the State.

As soon as the House met on Monday, Leader of the Opposition and YSRCP President YS Jaganmohan Reddy gave an adjournment motion seeking debate on political murders. However, Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasad Rao rejected the motion which triggered strong protest by the opposition benches. They surrounded the Speakers’ podium and raised slogans against the government. Following continuous protests, the Speaker adjourned the House for 15 minutes.

The YSRCP MLAs continued their protest when the House assembled again. The main opposition alleged that so far at least 11 YSRCP leaders were murdered since the TDP Government came into power. The Speaker again adjourned the House for 15 minutes. There was no change in the situation when the House met again. The Speaker told the protesting YSRCP MLAs that although the issue raised by them was important, but they should seek debate in a different form. He wanted the House to take up Question Hour.

With no change in the situation, the Speaker announced that all questions listed for Question Hour were postponed and adjourned the House till Tuesday.
