AP CS reviews prices of essential commodities

Hyderabad, July 28 : The Price structure relating to essential commodities position was reviewed by Chief Secretary Krishna Rao and it was observed that most of the commodities prices are normal compared to last year and there is no abnormal increase except in the case of Tomatoes.

With reference to, Tomatoes, it was decided that the Marketing Department would do intervention in terms of buying Tomatoes from Madanapally and selling them at the Rythu Bazars at a price less than the normal market price. To start with, in major cities of Vizag, Rajahmundry, Kakinada, Vijayawada and Guntur and expand it to other Rythu Bazars in about a week’s time. The likely impact of late rains was also discussed with reference to its impact on production of Red Gram Dal.

Principal Secretary (Agriculture) and Agriculture Commissioner were requested to assess the sowing position with reference to Red Gram and prepare a Contingency Plan in case there are likely to be shortages in future with reference to production of Red Gram Dal.  INN
