City will have one lakh CC Cameras by October

Hyderabad, July 24 : GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar on Thursday informed that nearly one lakh CC cameras would be installed in the city before the commencement of World Congress Metropolis Congress Meet to be held in October this year.

He was addressing the workshop on Public Safety Act 2013-14 jointly organised by the GHMC and Police Department. He said that it would be compulsory for the establishments where 100 and more people gather regularly, to install CCTV Camera for the safety of the customers / citizens. He said that the CCTV Cameras have become cheap compared to the past. He said that the installation of CC cameras by the police in the recent past has brought down the crime rate in the city.

The GHMC Commissioner said that all stake holders need to play an active role to make the city safe. He said almost all the departments have participated in the workshop and interacted, exchanged their views for its implementation. The departments have also promised that they were preparing an action plan for its implementation.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy said that one CCTV Camera would do the work of 12 constables in terms of surveillance. He informed that CCTV cameras would be installed in all the public places like Temples, Mosques, Educational Institutions, Bus Stops, Malls, Hotels, Railway Stations etc., wherever the public involvement is more.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner CV Anand congratulated the GHMC Commissioner for taking lot of pains inviting all the stake holders under one platform to create awareness about the public safety act.
