Madhusudana Chary to be first Speaker of T-Assembly

Hyderabad, June 9 : Bhupalpalle TRS MLA Sirikonda Madhusudana Chary is all set to become the first Speaker of Telangana State Legislative Assembly.

Madhusudana Chary was the lone candidate to file his nomination for the Speaker’s post for which notification was issued on Monday. Accompanied with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, TDLP chairman Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Congress deputy floor leader Dr J Geetha Reddy, BJP floor leader Dr K Lakshman and others, Chary filed his nomination papers before Assembly Secretary S Raja Sadaram. He is all set to be unanimously elected when the House meets on Tuesday at 11 AM.

According to sources, the Speaker’s post was earlier offerred to MLAs Koppula Eshwar, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Bajireddy Govardhan and Konda Surekha. However, all of them declined the offer and preferred cabinet berths. Finally, Madhusudhana Chary was selected for the post. Legislative Assembly Affairs Minister T Harish Rao then consulted all opposition parties requesting them to maintain the tradition of unanimous election of Assembly Speaker.  INN
