Prabhakar Rao appointed as T-GENCO CMD

Hyderabad, June 4 : In a major development, the Government of Telangana has appointed D Prabhakar Rao as Chairman and Managing Director of Telangana Generation Corporation Ltd.,

Prabhakar Rao has served the power sector for more than 45 years in various top positions such as Finance Advisor & Chief Controller of Accounts (FA&CCA)/APSEB, Member (Accounts)/APSEB, Director Finance/APTRANSCO, part time Director of APDISCOMs, Director/AP Gas Power Corporation, Director Finance/APGENCO. Further, he was elevated as JMD/APGENCO in October, 2010 and very recently he has demitted office and his vast experience benefitted the power sector to a large extent and his continuous efforts in various cadres in APSEB, APTRANSCO & APGENCO have made the turnaround of power utilities.

Prabhakar Rao, during his tenure as JMD/APGENCO was instrumental in tying up with international reputed banks such as World Bank, Asian Development Bank and National Level Financial Institutions like Power Finance Corporation (PFC), Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) etc for long term and short term loans for the new power projects in the state.

The ERP Project-SHAKTHI, the brain child of Prabhakar Rao, was a prestigious project initiated by APGENCO brought revolutionary changes in the planning, implementation and monitoring of various modules of HR, Finance, Accounts & Material Management etc. His indepth knowledge in various wings of power sector has helped APGENCO to transform into a modern and vibrant organization.

Rao, was one of the key members of the Prestigious Indian Delegation to the World Bank at Washington DC, USA in 1999 and has worked in successful implementation of reforms and restructuring of power sector in AP.

He was also conferred with the award of “Excellence in Accountancy and Finance” in the year 2010. Presently, he is also Advisory member in reputed Central University of Hyderabad. He has visited more than 20 countries such as USA, UK, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Japan, Bangkok, Netherlands, etc for studying the best practices/bench marks in power sector for replicating the same in our conditions.  INN
