KCR directs officials to improve civic amenities

Hyderabad, June 3: GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar on Tuesday informed that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has directed the officials of GHMC to  make better civic arrangements for more than 94 lakh citizens living in Hyderabad instead of 78 lakhs populations as per 2011 census.

The Commissioner has briefed the media after the Chief Minister’s first review on Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. The Commissioner said that KCR has directed the officials to make Hyderabad a World Class City and develop civic Infrastructure  keeping in view of  the development of the City in the year 2050 in order to attract more IT companies  by providing better transport facilities etc.,

KCR has directed the officials to prepare short term strategy to tackle with inundation of low lying areas, desilting of nalas, water stagnation points, provision of supply of quality drinking water and also to plan long term strategy simultaneously. He further directed to make Hyderabad a slum free city by providing 2 bed room housing facility on INSITU (in the same locality) basis and directed to take up pilot project immediately where people have come forward for such a facility.

The Chief Minister has directed the GHMC officials to develop dumping yards in a scientific way in 4 to 5 directions around Hyderabad by acquiring Government lands at a distant location from habitants and promised that he will be speaking with concerned Collectors in this regard.  KCR has recalled the beauty of Musi river and directed the officials to rejuvenate Musi river.

Responding to the officials’ submission of existing 265 vacancies in Engineering Department of GHMC, the Chief Minister directed the officials not to wait for establishment of Public Service Commission and to take up the appointments of Engineers by engaging an efficient agency. The CM has reiterated the need for improvement of Human Resources in order to make a livable City.

Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali, Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy, minister T Padma Rao, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, Municipal Administration Principal Secretary SK Joshi, HMDA Commissioner Neerab Kumar Prasad, ITC Principal Secretary Ajay Mishra and other officials participated in the meeting.
