Muslim leaders demand judicial probe into Kishanbagh violence

Hyderabad, May 29 : The Muslim United Forum has requested Governor ESL Narasimhan to order a judicial probe into the communal clashes and police firing in Kishanbagh area which claimed three lives about a fortnight ago.

A delegation comprising Majlis-e-Ulema-e-Deccan President Moulana Qubool Pasha Shattari, MIM President Asaduddin Owaisi, Mufti Sadeq Mohiuddin, Moulana Jaffer Pasha Hussami, Raheemuddin Ansari, Masood Mujtahedi and others called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday. Speaking to media persons later Moulana Shattari and Asaduddin Owaisi, said that the Governor has been requested to order a probe into the incident through a sitting judge of High Court. They also demanded action against the security personnel who opened fire on the mob. They said several Muslim youth were shot dead while they were protesting after bomb blast at Mecca Masjid in May 2007. They demanded that stern action should be taken against the guilty police officials who resorted to open fire instead of using other methods to disperse the mob.

The Muslim leaders also demanded increase in compensation from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh each for the families of those killed in police firing. They also sought assistance for those injured in police firing and communal clashes.

Moulana Shattari said that the Governor has been requested to take immediate steps to avoid such instances of communal violence in future.  INN
