Hyderabad, May 24 : Mohammed Majid Hussain, H.W.Mayor, GHMC said that GHMC will book criminal cases against the owner and builder of the M/s. P.Q Associates, near Sangeeth Theatre, Secunderabad. H.W.Mayor and Somesh Kumar, Commissioner, GHMC has rushed to the spot by hearing the news of collapse when they were in a meeting. H.W. Mayor said that in the building permission given by GHMC itself some rules will be prescribed with regard to leaving setbacks and construction of retaining walls while digging cellars for high rise buildings and the builder has totally neglected the part of precautionary measures and has violated the rule by not leaving setbacks.

H.W.Mayor announced Rs. 1 lakh ex-gratia for the deceased families and said that it is very unfortunate to lost two precious lives at the cost of some body’s negligence. H.W.Mayor said that new initiative of informing neighbors about the building permission that has been issued to a particular person / Organization, which is introduced by Somesh Kumar, Commissioner, GHMC is yielding good results by utilizing that anyone can lodge a complaint about any illegal construction and citizens can lodge their complaints regarding illegal constructions through GHMCs 24×7 Call Centre 040 – 21 11 11 11, he said. GHMC and the citizens together can only stop the illegal constructions, he added. H.W.Mayor further said that GHMC is constituting special teams to inspect the buildings from the date of issue of building permission

Somesh Kumar, Commissioner, GHMC said that action will be initiated after thorough enquiry against the erring Town Planning officials who have failed to inspect the site regularly and submit a report. The Commissioner recollected that GHMC has taken action up to the level of Assistant City Planner in earlier instances. He said that cases will be booked against the builder and owner for negligence, leading to death and not following the rules prescribed in the building permission.

Responding to the query of the media persons, the Commissioner said that the information regarding this illegal construction has never been brought to his notice, he will definitely initiate action if there is any lapse on part of the officials concerned and said that GHMC has stopped many illegal constructions wherever they get the information from the officials or the citizens.

He directed P. Venkata Rami Reddy, IAS, Additional Commissioner (Planning) to cancel the building permission immediately and to identify the CRPC (Criminal Procedure Code) sections under which criminal cases will be booked against the builder and owner. He directed the Ac (Planning) to take up immediately precautionary measures to protect the buildings adjacent to this site which are in danger conditions. He further directed the AC (Planning) to re-verify all the building permissions given for high rise buildings / multi stored buildings.

The Commissioner has directed Preethi Meena, IAS, Zonal Commissioner (North) to collect the family details of the deceased in order to provide the compensation. He further announced that GHMC will sanction a house to the deceased family under JNNURM scheme.  INN
