Akbaruddin Owaisi registers historic win

Hyderabad, May 15: MIM’s most popular leader Akbaruddin Owaisi has won the elections from Chandrayangutta Assembly constituency. He defeated his nearest rival Dr Khayam Khan of MBT with a margin of more than 53,000 votes.

This is the fourth straight win for Akbaruddin Owaisi from Chandrayangutta. He got elected from the seat first time in 1999. Since then, he only strengthened his position in the constituency and emerged as the most popular leader of the Muslim community across the State.

Born on June 14, 1970, Akbaruddin Owaisi did his schooling from Hyderabad Public School. He then completed his intermediate from St. Mary’s Junior College. However, he discontinued his MBBS course and joined politics. He contested and won from Chandrayangutta seat in 1999 by defeating MBT founder Md Amanullah Khan.

Three years ago, Akbaruddin Owaisi survived an assasination bid in Barkas area. Despite sustaining multiple bullet and stab injuries, he survived although he is still undergoing treatment. In December 2012, he was targeted by the then Kiran Kumar Reddy Government which registered several cases against him while accusing him of making hate speeches. He was arrested on January 8, 2013, and remained imprisoned in Adilabad Jail for over 40 days.

These unfortunate incidents increase Akbaruddin Owaisi’s popularity further. He got huge fan following among youth who joined the MIM in large numbers to ensure MIM’s victory in 2014 elections. His fiery speeches and unique style is loved by the masses who prefer to listen to him for hours together.
