GHMC chief pulls up staff for water stagnation

Hyderabad, May 9 : GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar has expressed his anger over the attitude and the working style of the Chief Engineer and senior officials of the Engineering Wing during the inspection of desilting of nala and water stagnation points today.

He has warned the concerned Executive Engineer that in spite of clear instructions and specific sanctions with regard to works pertaining to stagnation of water near Lake View Guest House but the works are not been grounded as per the specifications and directed to complete the work in the night itself failing which severe action will be initiated against him.

The Commissioner opined that the things attended properly within a time bound manner are yielding good results. He has recollected the stagnation point at Srinivas Nagar West, Mythrivanam at Ameerpet which brought to the notice of the Commissioner during January this year when there was a very heavy down pour and a massive stagnation. He gave very specific directions and sanctioned the required amount immediately the work was attended properly now the water is getting cleared within a span of 15 minutes. The Commissioner has directed the Engineering officials to attend each and every stagnation point in a same spirit and same line. He further expressed his frustration about the attitude of the engineering officials due to which the people are facing problems in spite of having sufficient funds and man power.

The Commissioner, Engineer-in- chief, Chief Engineer, Superintending Engineers and senior officials of the Engineering Wing inspected the desilting of nala at Pension Payment Office at Banjara Hills and stagnation points at Tolichowki, Shaikpet and Mythrivanam at Ameerpet etc. The Commissioner said the GHMC has identified 104 stagnation points in the main stretches of the GHMC almost all the works have been sanctioned and some of the works have been grounded and remaining will be completed within a week, he added.

Somesh Kumar personally monitored the repairs taken up with regard to stagnation points at Lake View Guest House and given standing instructions to the Engineers to take up the works on permanent basis and the works should be completed by tomorrow on priority and further said that he will be inspecting the works in the night. He walked up to Rajiv Gandhi Statue, Somajiguda stretch starting from CM Camp Office and made the engineering staff to clear the garbage / silt accumulated in storm water drains.  INN
