Congress leaders admit of injustices with Old City workers

Hyderabad, Jan 12: PCC Vice-President and MLC Mohammad Ali Shabbir on Sunday admitted that injustices were done to the party workers of Old City of Hyderabad.

Addressing the convention of Old City Congress workers here, Shabbir Ali said that the party activists should not be upset with the treatment they have suffered so far. He said justice would be done with all the workers. While preference would be given to the local workers in allocation of tickets, sincere leaders would be considered for nominated posts.

PCC General Secretary Laxman Goud echoed the similar feelings. He said that he made several representations to the State Government and Congress party on the injustices done to the Congress workers of Old City. However, he said his representations were ignored. He informed that the matter has been referred to Congress president Sonia Gandhi and AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and those serving the party would certainly get recognition.

PCC Secretary Yousuf Hashmi alleged that the Old City workers were not being importance in the Congress party. He said despite so many challenges, several workers and leaders have been bearing the party’s flag since several years. He also challenged the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to contest from Hyderabad. He said Modi, who is dreaming to becoming the Prime Minister would lose his deposit in Hyderabad.

Setwin Chairman Maqsood Ahmed said that the Congress Government was taking measures to eradicate unemployment from Hyderabad and several initiatives have been taken in the Old City. He praised Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for providing required funds to take up welfare schemes in the Old City.

Several leaders and workers of Bahadurpura, Karwan, Charminar, Chandrayangutta and Yakutpura Assembly segments participated in the conference. However, GHMC president D Nagender, Hyderabad Inchrage minister Dr J Geetha Reddy, Secunderabad MP M Anjan Kumar Yadav, Rajya Sabha member MA Khan and other important leaders skipped the programme.
