One held for cheating three Rajya Sabha MPs

Hyderabad, Nov 22 : The Cyber Crime Police of Hyderabad City Police have arrested a person on the charges of cheating three Rajya Sabha MPs.

The accused, Thota Balaji Naidu, 34, is an ex-employee of National Thermal Power Corporation and resident of Tenali of Guntur district.

According to police, he targeted the MLAs and MPs by introducing himself as the Project Director of Rajiv Kiranalu. He asked them to send applications of unemployed youth from their constituency. Accordingly, he also asks them to deposit the amounts into his associates’ Account Numbers. And once the said amount was deposited, he withdrew the amount and went absconding.

Describing him as a habitual offender, police said, so far, he had cheated about 22 MLAs and MPs to the tune of 6.31 lakh. He has been arrested 17 times so far.

In this case, the accused was arrested for cheating MPSs V Hanumantha Rao, T Devender Goud and Palvai Govardhan Reddy. While VHR deposited Rs 1.09 lakh, Palvai and Devender Goud Rs 1.32 lakh and Rs 66,000 in different accounts.

One cell phone which was used to call the victims and 50 per cent of the amount was recovered.

Team lead by Inspector P Raju, ASI S.Sudarshan and constables Satish and Saleem have cracked this case and apprehended the accused. INN
