Sri Guru Nanak Devji’s birthday celebrations from Nov 13

Hyderabad, Nov 12: The most important and major festival of the Sikh Community across the world, the birthday celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Devji, the first Sikh Guru and founder of Sikh Religion, who spread the message of peace and communal harmony over the world will be celebrated on a grand scale across Andhra Pradesh from November 13 to November 17.

To mark the important occasion, the Prabhandak Committees of Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad and Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Guru Nanak Marg, Ashok Bazar, Afzalgunj have joined hands to make the celebrations a grand success. In this context two colourful   “Nagar Keertans” (Holy Processions) will be taken out by Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad on November 13 (Wednesday) at  4 PM and another on November 15 (Friday)  by Gurudwara  Sri  Guru Singh Sabha, Guru Nanak Marg, Ashok Bazar, Afzalgunj at 4 PM.

On the day of 544th “Prakash Utsav” which falls on November 17 (Sunday), a grand “Vishal Deewan” (Mass Congregation) will be held at the sprawling Exhibition Grounds at Nampally from 10.30 AM to 4.30 PM.

The Prabhandak Committee Presidents S. Baldev Singh Bagga (GSS) and S. Kuldeep Singh Bagga (GSGSS) and other members said that a mass “Nagar Keertan” will be taken out on a grand scale on November 13 at around 4 PM from Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad and proceed via Manohar Talkies, Clock Tower, Nataraj Talkies, Patny Circle, Kingsway, Monda Market and reach Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad in the evening. Over 10,000 devotees will take part in the procession.Guru Granth Sahebji (the revered Holy Scripture of the Sikhs) will be carried on a beautifully decorated vehicle along with “Nishaan Sahebans” (Religious Flags).

The procession will be marked by rendering of Shabad Keertans (Holy Hymns) by Jatha Tera Jatha and Keerthani Jathas of men and women youths. Besides that “Panj Pyaras” (five beloved ones) in their traditional attire will be the cynosure of attraction all along the procession. The major attraction of the procession will be the display of “Gatka”, a famous Sikh martial art forms and other breathtaking sword exercises all along the procession by Dashmesh Kalgidhar Jatha and Special Gatka Party from Punjab will also exhibit their Gatka skills.

Another colourful “Nagar Keertan” wil be taken out on November 15  from Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha at Afzalgunj and will pass through Siddiambar Bazar, MJ Market, Jambagh, Putli Bowli, Central Gurudwara Saheb Gowliguda and reach Gurudwara Singh Sabha in the evening.

As the main Birthday Celebrations Guru Nanak Devji falls on November 17, a “Vishal Deewan” will be held at Exhibition Grounds where over 25,000 to 30,000 Sikh Devotees and other community faiths will participate.  The event will be marked by the recitations of Gurbani Keertans (Holy Hymns) by the reputed Ragi Jathas (religious preachers) who are being specially invited from various parts of the country to render shabad keertans. Bhai  Davinder Singh Sodhi of Ludhiana (Punjap), Bhai Amrit Pal Singhji of Sangrur wale (Punjab), Bhai Jaswinder Singhji, Bhai Hari Singh Hazuri Ragi Jathas, Bhai Gurdit Singh  and other reputed Ragi Jathas will recite shabad keertans and Kathas and  throw light on the teachings of Sikh Gurus. After the culmination of the congregation Guru Ka Langar (free community kitchen) will be served to the devotees.

Night Keertan Darbars will be organised on November 16 (Saturday) at Gurudwara Saheb Secunderabad from 7.30 PM to 11 PM.  Another Night Keertan Darbar will be organised at Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh sabha, Afzalgunj on November 17 (Sunday) from 9 PM to 2 AM in which above famous Ragi Jathas will recite Gurubani keertans.
