Hearing on DGP’s tenure petition adjourned

Hyderabad, Sept 29 : The division bench of Andhra Pradesh High Court has adjourned the hearing to Monday on an urgent petition moved by Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy on extension of his tenure.

The HC bench, comprising justices Ashutosh Mohunta and D Seshadri Naidu, heard the petition filed by Dinesh Reddy challenging the decision of the Hyderabad bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal which has refused to direct the state government to continue him as the DGP till the end of September next year. Advocate General Sudharshan Reddy argued the case on behalf of the State Government which was heard at the residence of Justice Ashutosh. The bench also heard the DGP’s lawyer.

It may be mentioned that the DGP on Saturday sought permission from the High Court to move an urgent motion before it in view of his retirement on Monday. While allowing filing of the petition, Chief Justice KJ Sengupta allotted the matter to a division bench. INN
